The first day: Discover the valley of Mai Chau and Thai Ethnic culture (165km) (L, D).
Your driver and guide will meet you at the lobby of Hanoi airport and take you along highway No.6 to Mai Chau: a small town nestled in the midst of a lush valley and surrounded by emerald-green rice fields. Enjoy picturesque views of the scenic landscape, sown with pagodas and rural villages. Stop along the way to visit the Muong tribe and then at Thung Khe Pass for a spectacular view of Mai Chau Valley. Have lunch in Mai Chau then spend the afternoon trekking off the typical tourist track, along the Song Ma River. Trek through terraced rice paddies and small villages, discovering the natural beauty of the valley and encountering the culture of the White Thai people, living in the region. Stop at a Thai village for the night, having dinner with a local family and enjoying a live dance and music performance in the evening.

The second Day: Mai Chau drive to Son La visiting ethnic villages and Son La Museum.
Start the day with a simple breakfast with your host family. Farewell to your host of homestay drive to Son La. Along the way you can explore the stunning sceneries and take the fascinating photos as well as visit to the minority villages of the H’mong and Black Thai. Spend time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant en route. Your next stop is Moc Chau plateau, the greatest valuable tourism resource of Son La and the Northwestern Vietnam. This is a chance for you to visit a tea plantation for discovering the best Vietnam’s tea growing region along the roads and on the hillsides. Upon arrival in Son La City in the afternoon, visit Son La city and its museum. Then have dinner before an overnight stay in Son La.
The Third Day: Son La – drive Dien Bien visit the historical site of Indochina war
Spend this morning to travel on more winding and stunning roads, longer passes and discover more colorful minority groups in Son La. This is another chance for you to take more amazing photos and visit the villagers to learn more about their rich cultures and daily life. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then drive to visit Dien Bien Phu. Along the way you will travel through the impressive Pha Din pass, the highlight of this day. With 32 km length on the high way 6, Pha Din pass located on 1,000 meter or 3280 feet above the sea level and is one of four largest pass of Vietnam. According to local legend, Pha Din means the connection between Heaven and Earth. On this trip you will get an unforgettable experience when climbing and descending the slopes with the many bends and deep gorges. You will reach Dien Bien Phu in early afternoon and spend the rest of the day visiting the historical site of the Vietnamese – French war, Dien Bien Phu Museum and A1 Hill. Enjoy dinner and then stay overnight in Dien Bien Phu.
Nestled in a heart shaped basin near the border with Laos, lies Dien Bien Phu, the famous historical battleground, where the Vietnamese successfully defeated the French, marking the end of French colonial occupation.
Start the day early with a visit to the local market where you will meet charming Thai tribes in their traditional costume purchasing their farm products.
Next, you will visit Dien Bien Phu Museum and A1 hill then continue to Dien Bien Phu Cemetery to observe a minute’s silence in memory of the heroes who devoted their lives for the victory of the historical Dien Bien Phu Campaign. Visit General De Castries’s Bunker, Old Muong Thanh Bridge and Nam Rom river.
Day 4: Dien Bien Phu – Lai Chau – Phong Tho
After the breakfast, proceed to Lai Chau along a bumpy road, passing a series of ethnic villages of Kho Mu (Xa), Huoi Chan, and Bung Giat. Continue to Phong Tho on scenic roads, crossing the junctions of Da and Na rivers by the way of the Chinese-built Hang Tom suspension bridge. From here, the road weaves its way northwards through the picturesque and steadily more spectacular Na River valley, past more ethnic villages of White Thai, Kho Mu and later Red and White H’mong minorities. Arrive in Phong Tho and spend rest of the day to cycle around the village.

The Day 5: Lai Chau –drive Sapa, conquer the great pass of Vietnam (153km) (B, L, D).
This morning, leave Phong Tho for Sapa. The road is a bit bumpy at times, but the rough route is quickly compensated by the magnificent scenery: yawning valleys, winding rivers, and canonical mountains – a photographer’s dream. The drive to Sapa takes you up Tram Son – the highest pass in Vietnam – and views of the Fansipan Peak, known as “the roof of Indochina”. Stop en route to visit Heaven’s Gate and the Silver Waterfall. You arrive in Sapa in the afternoon. Nestled in a sweeping valley near the Chinese border, Sapa is Northwest Vietnam’s premier travel destination. Built in 1922 as a French colonial hill station, this quaint town is now a trekker’s paradise, offering hiking routes through terraced rice fields and enchanting hill tribe villages. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore the colorful town on your own. Have dinner and stay overnight in Sapa.

The Day 6: Sapa Trekking to Lao Chai and Ta Van Villages (B & L).
Enjoy an entire day trekking through breath-taking countryside in Sapa. Have breakfast at your hotel and then spend today for a great trekking tour downhill to Muong Hoa valley and enjoy the most beautiful trekking route in Vietnam. You will take part in a five hours trekking tour on the dirt path away from tourist tracks, through pine forest, terraces and Hmong villages. Chance to learn about local life and educated by a visit to the village school and spend time to enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, you will hike through the village of DZay people and head to an end of the hike today. Finally, the driver will pick you up at Ta Van Bridge for the drive back to Sapa. It’s time for you to relax in the hotel area and have dinner on your own before an overnight stay in Sapa.

The Day 7: Sapa – drive Hanoi (328km) (B)
After an early breakfast at the hotel, you leave Sapa for the long and beautiful drive back to Hanoi. Enjoy many stops en route to savor the beautiful countryside as the landscape changes from arching mountains to the flat plains of the Red River Delta. Arrive in Hanoi in the late afternoon.
The Day 8: Hanoi Departure (B)
Free day until transfer to airport for flight out, even it ends the Northwest Loop Vietnam Tour but you have endless options to extend your holiday to another cities in Central and Southern Vietnam.
